The power of going public
Motivation
Trying to get healthy by yourself? Sometimes a little bit of people power is all you need to get you motivated.
Hey gang,
Although many people want to keep their new healthy regime a secret, for some it doesn’t work. Keeping the regime to yourself means that you can fall of the wayside easily, and no one would be the wiser.
People can be great for motivation, support and a kick up the bum when needed! Here are some great ways that other people can get you moving:
Workout buddy
Get together with a friend or relative who also wants to get fit, and arrange a time to get together every day or week. You’re more likely to keep an appointment to run with your best friend in the park then head to the gym by yourself.
Facebook or Twitter
Social networking is an amazing medium for getting your thoughts to the world. Why not announce your fitness goal to the world (or your friends) and then keep updating your status with progress, difficulties, and achievements. In return, you’ll get comments, advice and hopefully encouragement!
Personal Blog
Why not go one step further than your Facebook status, and create a blog about your journey to getting healthy. It’s pretty easy to start a blog these days using free platforms like blogger and wordress. Email it to your friends who can keep track of what you’re doing.
Personal Trainer
If you have the money to spare, why not get a personal trainer? Getting someone you like who can keep you on the straight and narrow may help you to reach those goals.
Public Goal Chart
Create a Fitness or Healthy Eating Log and place in in a public place – it could be stuck on your kitchen fridge or your desk at work. Let people see your progress so you’re more likely to do it.
Online Forums and Groups
There are loads of forums out there supporting people who are losing weight, getting fitter, building muscle or running a marathon! So why not join and share tips, advice, and encouragement.
Be happy,
Mr. M
